  1. UPDAT543.ZIP is an update for WinPack V5.4. It replaces the main EXE
  2. file in WINP540.ZIP, it DOES NOT contain a complete WinPack system.

  4. (WinPack is an amateur packet radio program for use with Windows or
  5. Win95. It is freeware).
  6.  
  7. The ZIP contains the following files:-

  10. CHANGES.TXT

  14. New Features and Improvements
  15. -----------------------------
  16.  1. BPQ application number can be changed by editing PACKET.INI.
  17.     The default is application '1' (BBS/PMS) but you can now use
  18.     a different application number and enable connection to WinPack
  19.     via an option on the "APPLICATIONS" line of BPQCFG.TXT.

  21.  2. The use of shortcut keys (Ctrl_F1, etc.) extended to the edit
  22.     window.
  23.  
  24.  3. Address book automatically searched when the callsign field is
  25.     filled in when writing mail.
  26.  
  27.  4. The program can be setup to automatically minimize itself after
  28.     a period of inactivity. You use "MINIMIZE_TIME" in the [TERMINAL]
  29.     section of PACKET.INI.

  31.  5. Print option added to the File menu. Previously it was only
  32.     available from the tool bar.
  33.  
  34.  6. WinPack can now be setup so that, after FBB compressed forwarding
  35.     has been used, it sends an "FQ" to the BBS rather than doing a
  36.     hard disconnect, the disconnect is instead initiated by the BBS.
  37.     To enable this, run this new version, close it down and then edit
  38.     PACKET.INI. look for the "SEND_FQ=FALSE" entry in the [FBB]
  39.     section and change it to "TRUE". This should fix the problem that
  40.     occurs with connections via KAM nodes causing a "protocole error"
  41.     message on the BBS every time WinPack disconnects.

  43. Bug Fixes

  45.  1. If a bull topic longer than 6 characters is input, it is now
  46.     truncated.

  48.  2. The SSID wasn't encoded properly in BPQ unprotos. Only an SSID of
  49.     '0' would actually work. Now fixed.
  50.  
  51.  3. Arguments to programs RUN from a script were corrupted.
  52.  
  53.  4. A hot key was duplicated on the Options menu.
